A VISUAL NARRATOR OF LIFE
YOUR LIFE. Real. Honest. Unscripted. A PERSONAL APPROACH TO DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY
LOOKING FOR TRADITIONAL FAMILY PORTRAITURE?
AND BY THAT I MEAN...
That perfect family photo.
You know the ones where everyone is in their matching and carefully coordinated outfits which you bought especially for the occasion.
You're sitting in a park or random field as the golden afternoon sun showers it's #blessed rays over your heads. The children are cooperative, delightful and smiling on cue for the photographer.
Carefully composed, perfectly styled.
Everything is Pinterest perfect.
THEN THIS WON'T BE FOR YOU
YOU'LL NOTICE THAT THERE IS NOT ONE 'FAMILY LAUGHING IN THE FIELD'
PHOTO ANYWHERE HERE!
And it's because I believe that real life is enough. It maybe chaotic, challenging, messy and dysfunctional but it is also filled with laughter, love, tremendous adventure, absolute wonder and beauty can be found in the most unlikely of places.
We often fall into the trap of believing that tomorrow will always come, and that it will look exactly like it did today. We've been lead to believe that the fondest memories are made in the grandest occasions of life. The reality is much more simple. It's the seemingly unimportant moments; the loud, funny, ordinary, repetitive routines and mundane nuances of our 'everyday' life that has the greatest influence in shaping who we are and who we become.
In 30 years time, will the photos that you have tell any part of your story together?
The way everyone pitched in Saturday mornings to make pancakes for breakfast. The weekends spent delving into the world of make-believe in the backyard or conjuring up another batch of 'wombat-stew'. Exploring the great outdoors together fishing rod in hand or working side by side with Dad in the shed on his next project. Feeding the chickens at Grans place; tending the flower gardens with Nan or sitting with Grandad listening to the "Well back in my day..." stories. And then there's that grin; the one that you instinctively knew meant they were plotting and up to no good.
Perhaps it was those quieter, tender moments that made your heart sing. Snuggling in bed together on a cool winters night with their favourite 'lovey', reading The Three Little Pigs for the third time that week. The way you gently stroked their hair each night before they fell asleep or a pat on the back and "good job" from Dad. A tender touch, a loving glance.
These are the moments that we, and our loved ones, will long to remember. Seeing these moments will take them right back to that feeling and will show them the way they gave love and received love.
THOSE ARE THE KINDS OF MOMENTS I MAKE PHOTOS OF.
"Isn't it funny how day by day nothing seems to change, but when you look back everything is different."

I am on this grand adventure of life that is motherhood with our three wonderful, energetic children and my husband of 12 years.
I am an introvert, extrovert. I am friendly, outgoing and love being around people but need to retreat every so often and enjoy my own company.
Humour is definitely my go-to. Life in general is funny, quirky and often down right weird. The saying "laughter is the shortest distance between two people" resonates with me because in my experience, it's so true.
I have a secret to confess. I love, love, love The Bold and the Beautiful and have watched the show religiously for the last 20+ years!
Human behaviour has always intrigued me, even from a young age. I am forever curious to understand the 'why' behind what we do and the choices we make. These are stories just waiting to be discovered.
I have travelled to 4 different countries but there is still no place like home.
